The Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as ‘Prachanda,’ has expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s policies and programs, stating that they have fallen short of reality. This statement was made during a joint meeting of both houses of the Federal Parliament on the 19th of Baisakh. President Ramchandra Poudel presented the government’s policies and programs during the meeting, prompting Chairman Dahal to criticize them as being only formal and lacking practicality.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, commented on the issue, stating that the government’s policies and programs fail to address the current crises effectively and lack a people-centric approach. He emphasized the need for comprehensive reevaluation and the implementation of practical and production-oriented programs to address the deep-rooted needs of the public and the nation.
Chairman Dahal particularly highlighted the importance of focusing on agriculture, water resources, forestry, tourism, education, health, employment, federalism, and social justice as national priorities. He criticized the government for neglecting the marginalized communities and urged for programs that would lead to meaningful changes in their living standards.
Expressing concern over the government’s neglect of inclusive development, Chairman Dahal called for a dialogue with the public, a better understanding of ground realities, and a long-term focus on solutions. He stressed the significance of promoting entrepreneurship based on agriculture, mechanization, collective development of production systems, and ensuring the security and stability of resources and markets.
Regarding past initiatives like the ‘Agricultural Investment Decade Campaign,’ ‘Partnership Program for Production and Employment,’ and others, Chairman Dahal expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of continuity in these programs. He criticized the government for cutting programs that directly benefit communities and urged for a more people-oriented approach.
Chairman Dahal also raised concerns about the government’s treatment of non-resident Nepalis, emphasizing the need to ensure their practical citizenship rights. He highlighted the importance of implementing policy structures that harness the skills and capabilities of non-resident Nepalis for the country’s economic, social, and technological development.
In conclusion, Chairman Dahal called for the government to construct policies that effectively utilize the talents and capacities of non-resident Nepalis for national development. He believed that integrating the contributions of globally dispersed Nepalis into institutional frameworks could greatly benefit the country’s economic, social, and technological advancement.
