Pakistan and India have both announced the expulsion of a diplomat each from their respective countries on Tuesday, accusing them of being involved in espionage activities against their officials. Pakistan declared an Indian embassy staff member in Islamabad as a ‘persona non grata,’ giving him 24 hours to leave the country, as reported by the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan.
In response, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement on Tuesday, confirming that they had ordered a Pakistani official working in the high commission in New Delhi to leave the country within 24 hours. The ministry emphasized that the decision was taken due to the official’s actions not being in line with his diplomatic responsibilities.
According to sources in the Indian media, this move comes after reports of the Pakistani diplomat engaging in activities inconsistent with his official position in India. Both countries have taken swift action in response to these allegations of espionage.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his concerns about the escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, emphasizing the importance of diplomatic relations being conducted in a transparent and respectful manner to avoid further conflicts in the region.
