The recent terrorist attack in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, has prompted a strong response from the Indian government. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) has decided to take strict actions against Pakistan in light of the attack.
Following the meeting, the Ministry of External Affairs held a press conference, indicating strong evidence of Pakistan’s direct involvement in the Pulwama attack. The CCS made four significant decisions regarding Pakistan, including stopping water supply to Pakistan under the Indus Waters Treaty, closing the Attari border, imposing a ban on Pakistani citizens entering India, and recalling the Pakistani High Commissioner in Delhi.
Key officials present in the meeting included Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Prime Minister Modi informed through social media about the conclusion of the CCS meeting.
The discussions in the meeting revolved around strategies to counter terrorist attacks, operational tactics of security forces, and India’s response at the international forums.
Following the CCS meeting, Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah had a separate meeting. Home Minister Shah was seen carrying a red file as he entered the Prime Minister’s residence for the meeting.
In response to the Pulwama attack, the central government has called for an all-party meeting on Thursday. According to sources, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh have been in personal contact with leaders of all major political parties.
Special opinion from Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News: “The decisive actions taken by the Indian government in response to the Pulwama attack reflect a strong stance against terrorism. It is crucial for regional stability and sends a clear message to those supporting such acts of violence.”
