In a recent development, Tribhuvan University (TU) has introduced a system for students facing issues at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), located in Odisha, India, to study by transferring credits. This initiative aims to assist Nepali students who had to return to Nepal due to the problems created at KIIT in India.
Dr. Khadga Keshi, the Vice Chancellor of TU, issued a statement on Tuesday explaining that the decision to implement the credit transfer policy was prompted by the challenges faced by students who had to return from KIIT in India. According to the policy, these students will be able to study at TU in line with the credit transfer policy upon their return.
Representative Ramesh Khatri of Kansai Nepal News expressed his opinion on this matter, stating, “Nepali students who were compelled to return from KIIT in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, due to the problems faced there, can now study at TU in compliance with the credit transfer policy, enabling them to continue their academic pursuits and research on programs and subjects conducted at TU.”
TU has urged students and parents to contact rectoroffice@tu.edu.np and rector@tu.edu.np for further information. This development comes after a recent incident at KIIT’s hostel, where a Nepali student, Prakriti Lamsal, tragically passed away under mysterious circumstances. Subsequently, due to security concerns, Nepali students left their studies mid-way and returned to Nepal.
