Individualism Weakens the Party: Spokesperson Mahat’s Assertion

The spokesperson of the Nepali Congress, Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, has expressed his views on the need for the party to strengthen itself by avoiding individualistic tendencies. He emphasized the importance of centralizing the party’s activities to enhance its effectiveness. Dr. Mahat made these remarks during a journalist conference organized by the Nepal Press Union in Chitwan on Saturday.

Dr. Mahat highlighted the necessity for the party to prioritize organizational activities over individual interests to prevent weakening. He stressed the need to discourage individualistic behaviors to strengthen the party. Furthermore, he pointed out that addressing weaknesses in the election process, such as lack of coordination between winning and losing factions, is crucial to eliminating disunity within the party.

Regarding the upcoming party convention in 2082 BS, Dr. Mahat mentioned that it might not be feasible due to insufficient preparation time. He suggested that additional time might be required to adequately prepare for the significant event, even if an extension of up to a year is granted, the decision will be made by the central committee.

In response to discussions with opposition parties on passing government ordinances, Dr. Mahat mentioned that there are no significant issues with five out of the proposed ordinances. He noted that land-related ordinances could be passed through a consensus-building framework.
