The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has initiated an investigation against 18 individuals, including the former Managing Director of Nepal Telecom, Sunil Paudel, and the current Managing Director, Sangita Pahadi, on charges of corruption. The move comes after allegations of misuse of authority surfaced within the organization.
Nepal Telecom, a state-owned telecommunication company, plays a crucial role in providing communication services across the country. The allegations of corruption against its top officials have raised concerns about transparency and accountability within the organization.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his views on the matter, stating that such allegations undermine public trust in government institutions. He emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation to ensure that those involved in corrupt practices are held accountable, regardless of their position.
Khatri also highlighted the significance of ethical conduct in public service and the need for stringent measures to prevent corruption in state-owned enterprises. He called for greater transparency and oversight to maintain the integrity of institutions like Nepal Telecom and uphold public trust in government operations.
