In Tokyo, Japanese toilets are known for their advanced and sophisticated features. From music players to automated bidets and self-cleaning functions, these toilets offer a high level of comfort and convenience. However, despite all these technological advancements, there is one common enemy that poses a challenge – toilet paper.
Recently, Toto, a leading toilet bowl manufacturer in Japan, issued a statement urging users not to put toilet paper on the seat to prevent it from sliding. This simple act of placing toilet paper on the seat was causing the seat to move, leading to discomfort for users.
The issue gained attention on social media platforms, with posts highlighting the problem of toilet seats sliding and getting discolored due to the use of detergents. In response to this, Toto revealed that they are considering making toilet seats out of plastic that can withstand the effects of detergents and maintain their shape even with complex designs.
Furthermore, users were advised not to use dry toilet paper to clean the seats as it could leave small scratches and accumulate dirt, resulting in discoloration. Toto emphasized the importance of using a soft cloth dampened with water and detergent to clean the seat gently.
While the company is exploring new materials for toilet seats, they have not yet finalized any plans for production. Despite various suggestions from cleaning experts, such as avoiding the use of nylon or metal scrubbers to prevent damage, Toto remains focused on finding a solution to improve the durability and maintenance of toilet seats.
