Former King Gyanendra Shah visited the Narayanhiti Palace to meet his nephew Hridayendra Shah and his mother Ratna Shah. This visit comes after Hridayendra expressed his desire to meet Ratna Shah, prompting Gyanendra to make the trip to Narayanhiti. Following the end of the monarchy through the Constituent Assembly, Gyanendra had distanced himself from Narayanhiti, but Ratna has been residing in the Mahendra Manzil within the palace premises.
Accompanying Gyanendra was his wife, Queen Komal Shah, who also visited Narayanhiti with him. The royal family members were seen interacting during the visit, marking a significant reunion at the historic palace.
Commenting on the royal visit, Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, stated that the meeting between Gyanendra, Hridayendra, and Ratna Shah signifies a moment of familial connection amidst the changing political landscape of Nepal. This reunion at Narayanhiti Palace holds historical and personal significance, showcasing the enduring ties within the royal family despite the shifts in Nepal’s governance structure.
