In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake that occurred on January 17, 1995, Kobe Hankyu is hosting an event centered around the theme of the earthquake’s 30-year mark. The event, titled “Kobe to the Future,” is set to take place from January 8 to January 21 at Kobe Hankyu located in Kobe’s Chuo Ward at 8-1-8 Onogara-dori.

The main focus of this event is to bring together individuals who share a common passion under the theme of “Hope for a Bright Future.” By uniting people of different generations who share similar interests, the event aims to deliver the “hope for the future” that will further enhance and enrich the development and charm of Kobe’s city to the next generation.

One of the highlights of the event is the “Limited-Time Shop” showcasing local products from Kobe and Hyogo. The shop will be open until January 21 and will feature a variety of products. Additionally, on January 17, there will be a “Talk Live” session with prominent figures connected to Kobe, as well as a “Music Live” performance by registered artists of the KOBE Downtown Performance.

Throughout the venue, music that uplifted and inspired people during the earthquake will be played as background music. At noon, a moment of silence will be observed, calling for cooperation from shoppers to participate in a silent prayer.

The event also includes various other brands such as B-TOGETHER (accessories), SISSI (leather goods), parabum (upcycled items), and NUTS LAB (nut sweets), with the possibility of brand lineup changes.

Moreover, on January 17, several events are scheduled, including the “Kobe to the Future Talk Live” featuring notable individuals sharing their thoughts about Kobe’s future and the “KOBE to the Future Music Live” where artists will perform music that inspired during the earthquake. The day will conclude with a performance of the recovery song “May We Carry Happiness Together” sung by all participants.

In addition, there will be a special event titled “Resonate! Drumming for Mourning and Hope” featuring drum performances at 5:46 PM on January 17, continuing the tradition since 1996.

Furthermore, the event will also feature messages from individuals with connections to Kobe, sharing their thoughts and themes related to the city. These messages are available for viewing until January 21 on Kobe Hankyu’s official website.

The “Kobe to the Future” event aims to gather lessons learned from the earthquake, the power of local products, music, and sports to create a hopeful future. Despite the solemn connotations of the earthquake, the event offers a positive and bright atmosphere, making it inviting for everyone to participate. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore messages from Kobe-affiliated individuals and experience the event’s vibrant spirit.
