Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has emphasized the importance of actively engaging with the Nepali public to ensure recognition, access, and representation. Speaking at a grand cultural exhibition organized in Tuwachung-Jayajum of the Kirat community’s ancestral land in Khotang, Koirala highlighted the ongoing struggle for identity, access, and representation within the community.
Koirala expressed confidence in the Nepali Congress’ commitment to overcoming divisions and fostering inclusivity in society. He recalled raising the issues of identity, inclusivity, and proportional representation during the constitution-making process, emphasizing the need for equal rights regardless of caste, religion, or culture. According to Koirala, respecting each other’s dignity is crucial for building a civilized society.
Representing Kansai Nepal News, Ramesh Khatri shared his perspective on the event, praising Koirala’s dedication to promoting unity and social justice. Khatri commended Koirala for advocating for a society based on equality and mutual respect.
Regarding the current coalition government, Koirala expressed concerns about its perceived shortcomings. He stressed the importance of good governance, transparency in public services, job creation, and economic reforms to meet public expectations and address the country’s needs effectively.
Koirala also emphasized the need for interaction with party workers at the district level to ensure the Nepali Congress stays ahead in the national development agenda. He announced plans for the party’s 15th National Convention to be held by the upcoming month of Mangsir to further strategize and unify party members towards progress.
