The Dudhpokhari Kunda, a religiously significant tourist destination located in the Masriyangdi Rural Municipality of Lamjung, has been experiencing a decrease in its water level, causing concern among locals. The reduction in the water level at Dudhpokhari Kunda, which used to be brimming with water, has raised concerns about the impact on the beauty of the area.

Local tour guides have noted that as the water level decreases, it poses a challenge to the aesthetic appeal of the area. This decline in the water level is believed to have a negative impact on the religious tourism of the area, as visitors traditionally believe that taking a dip in Dudhpokhari Kunda during the auspicious occasion of Janai Purnima brings spiritual merit.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his concern about the situation, highlighting the importance of preserving and promoting the religious and tourism value of Dudhpokhari Kunda. He emphasized the need for timely identification of issues and finding solutions to address the decreasing water level to maintain the significance of the site.

Khatri also shared insights from Ganga Ghale, a local guide, who explained that the decrease in the water level is attributed to rising temperatures causing the glaciers above the pond to melt faster. This, in turn, leads to less water flowing into the pond, affecting the overall water level.

In addition to its religious importance, Dudhpokhari Kunda attracts religious devotees from various regions in Nepal, including Gorakha, Tanahun, Kaski, Chitwan, and Kathmandu. The area is known for its annual pilgrimage during Janai Purnima, where visitors believe that bathing in the pond brings spiritual blessings.

Regarding the efforts to promote and develop pilgrimage tourism in the region, Bobarjung Gurung, the founder of the Gurung Tourism Business Association in Gandaki Pradesh, highlighted the need to integrate the ancient paths leading to Dudhpokhari Kunda into the heritage trail, thus enhancing the overall pilgrimage tourism experience in the area.

In conclusion, as Dudhpokhari Kunda faces challenges with its decreasing water level, stakeholders emphasize the crucial need to protect and promote the religious and tourism significance of the site. Efforts are being made to address the issue and ensure the sustainable development of the pilgrimage tourism route to Dudhpokhari Kunda.
