The Lakhnau Super Giants secured their fourth victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament. In their first match on Saturday, they defeated the Gujarat Titans by six wickets, showcasing a strong performance to claim the win.
In the ongoing competition, Gujarat suffered their second consecutive loss. In a match where they lost the toss, Gujarat batted first and scored 180 runs, losing six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
For Gujarat, Sai Sudarshan played a crucial innings, scoring a half-century with 56 runs off 37 balls, while captain Shubhaman Gill contributed with a half-century innings of 60 runs off 38 balls. The two players shared a partnership of 120 runs for the first wicket. Additionally, Jos Buttler added 16 runs, Sarfaraz Rathore scored 22 runs, and Shardul Thakur and Rabhi Vishwa each took two wickets for Lakhnau, while Digvijay Rathore and Avesh Khan took a wicket each for Gujarat.
Chasing Gujarat’s target of 181 runs, Lakhnau achieved the target in 19.3 overs, losing four wickets in the process. Nicholas Pooran played a crucial role, hitting seven sixes and a four to score the highest 61 runs off 34 balls, supported by Adian Markram who scored a half-century with 58 runs, including nine boundaries and a six. Ayush Badoni contributed 28 runs, while captain Rishabh Pant added 21 runs.
In Gujarat’s bowling, Krishna took two wickets, while Rashid Khan and Washington Sundar each took a wicket. With this victory, Lakhnau stands at the third position in the table with four wins from six matches, accumulating 8 points, whereas Gujarat, with an equal number of points from as many matches, holds the second position.
