Macau Customs has recently intensified its efforts to combat smuggling activities conducted by so-called carriers, utilizing IT technologies to enhance border control measures. During the week spanning from June 27 to July 3, this initiative was focused on the main land route entry point in Macau, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.
The heightened vigilance at the border was part of a broader strategy to crack down on illicit smuggling operations that often involve individuals transporting contraband goods across borders. By leveraging advanced IT tools and surveillance methods, Macau Customs aims to strengthen its capacity to detect and prevent such illegal activities.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his views on the matter, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and border control authorities to effectively curb smuggling. He highlighted the significance of leveraging technology and intelligence-sharing mechanisms to stay ahead of evolving smuggling tactics and protect national security interests.
