In a rare occurrence, Nepal’s two top leftist leaders, Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli and Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of the Unified Socialist Party, have not engaged in official dialogue for a while due to the ongoing political situation in the country.

Recently, on Wednesday, at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, Prime Minister Oli and the leaders of the Unified Socialist Party, along with Madhav Kumar Nepal, expressed their commitment to bringing about reforms in the country’s economic, social, and other sectors through a memorandum presented on Wednesday.

The meeting, which lasted for approximately an hour, focused on discussing the memorandum, touching on contemporary political issues informally while reminiscing about certain past events among the leaders who were formerly part of the same party.

The memorandum highlights suggestions for revisiting various aspects of governance and preparing for socialism, along with sectors such as agriculture, industry, education, health, tourism, information technology, infrastructure, governance, foreign policy, and constitutional review.

Following incidents of vandalism at the Unified Socialist Party’s office in March, the Chairman of Nepal also requested compensation from the government for the damages incurred during the meeting.

Acknowledging the suggestions received during the memorandum, Prime Minister Oli expressed gratitude for the advice on policies, programs, and budget preparations for the upcoming fiscal year, instilling confidence in incorporating these recommendations during the budget formulation process.

In light of recent actions by reactionary and extremist elements, Prime Minister Oli emphasized the need to oppose such activities to maintain harmony.

Representatives from Kansai Nepal News, including Chairman Ramesh Khatri, Senior Leaders Pravesh Hamal and Rajendra Pandey, Vice-Chairs Prakash Jwala, Dr. Gangalal Tuladhar, Bhanubhakta Joshi, General Secretary Ghanshyam Bhushal, and Secretary Savitrakumari Bhushal, were also present at the meeting.
