Maharjan found dead in Shivapuri forest 17 days after going missing

In a tragic turn of events, a 58-year-old woman named Kancha Maharjan, who had been missing from her home in Ward No. 6 of Tarkeshwar Municipality in Kathmandu for 17 days, was found dead today in the Shivapuri Jungle. The discovery was made as part of a search operation initiated after she went missing on the 10th of Falgun.

According to spokesperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Apil Raj Bohara, Kancha was located in the Shivapuri Jungle, which falls under Ward No. 3 of Tarkeshwar Municipality. It was revealed that she had a dispute with her family before going missing, prompting the search operation. Her body was then taken to Maharajgunj Teaching Hospital for further examination, where the cause of death is yet to be determined.

In a separate incident, another individual, a 65-year-old woman named Bisanee Gurung from Ward No. 4 of Gorkha Darche Gaunpalika, was also found dead in her own room today. The police informed that she was discovered deceased in her residence. Additionally, in Kathmandu’s Gokarneshwor Municipality, a scooter caught fire near the newly constructed bridge in Jambudanda, causing damage. The police have reported that the incident resulted in a fire when the scooter was being refueled.
