The Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) has decided to honor seven distinguished personalities for their significant contributions to the development and expansion of the Nepali communist movement by recognizing them as communist fighters. The decision was made during a meeting held at the central office of the Maoist party in Chyasal, Lalitpur on Monday, coinciding with the party’s establishment day.
According to Deputy Secretary-General Pradeep Gyawali, the individuals to be honored include Lal Bahadur Vishwakarma (Kanchanpur), Ratna Sharma Nyopane (Maranoparant), Bachaspati Devkota (Gorkha), Shanta Manavi (Kathmandu), Satyanarayan Mandal (Saptari), Shobharam Basnet (Dang), and Haricharan Shivakoti (Jhapa).
Additionally, the meeting also decided to publish a book titled “Shelter” that commemorates the memories of 34 leaders and activists involved in the early days of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) and the Coordination Center party building process.
The book aims to shed light on various aspects of party building, including how leaders found shelter in people’s homes during the initial stages, the roles of leaders during party congresses, and how activists ensured the security of leaders.
Deputy Secretary-General Gyawali highlighted the current political situation in Nepal, emphasizing the need for a strong push for government change. He expressed concerns about the lack of power for change in the current government, stating that there is a need for the government to do better work.
In response to the news, Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his opinion, stating, “The efforts to destabilize the foundation by creating a system based on weaknesses and focusing solely on government change are shortsighted. This belief undermines the party’s credibility, as this approach is unlikely to succeed.”
Furthermore, the meeting also announced plans to celebrate the victory of democracy and the historic day of Baishakh 11 as a ‘Youth Celebration’ in a grand manner. Chairman K.P. Sharma Oli briefly discussed the current political developments and events of the country in the meeting, with the Publicity Department Chief Rajendra Gautam sharing further details about the discussions held during the meeting.
