Two Nepali youths living in Japan have fled after being cheated out of more than three lakh rupees, including iPhones and SIM internet services. Manoj Chhantyal, residing in Tokyo’s Kachushika Ward, had been receiving telecommunication services from NTT Telecom Japan, but he fled with unpaid bills for internet services along with an iPhone. According to reports, he took a loan from Friend Trust Internet Service to make monthly payments, but has been on the run for the past four months since July 14, 2023.

Chhantyal, who has defrauded more than 2,10,000 yen in iPhone 14 Pro Max, mobile, and internet services, is also wanted by the Japanese police. Despite repeated attempts to collect the monthly installment payments from the bank, Chhantyal has evaded contact. Legal action has been initiated against him for non-payment.

Similarly, another student, Samir Sunuwar, residing in Fukuoaka, Japan, has also fled after being cheated with a loan service from Friend Trust Internet. Sunuwar, who defrauded more than 1,00,000 yen in iPhone Pro Max, mobile, and NTT Telecom internet services, has been on the run for more than three months since September 28, 2022.

Efforts to collect monthly installment payments have been in vain, and legal action will be taken if Sunuwar does not respond. Just like Chhantyal, Sunuwar also cut off all communication channels since September 2024 and is now on Japan police’s wanted list for fraud-related crimes. The company involved has provided information to the Nepali police, including the Central Investigation Bureau, regarding the fraud cases.
