Former Prime Minister and Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, popularly known as ‘Prachanda’, has expressed that he has regained the public’s trust in his leadership within the party in recent times. Speaking at a gathering in Baglung on Tuesday, he highlighted that his leadership over the past 18 months has instilled confidence among the people.
Dahal’s statement reflects a positive shift in the Maoist Centre’s trajectory, with his efforts in reviewing past weaknesses leading to a stronger organizational structure at the grassroots level. He pointed out that the increasing number of leaders and activists joining the Maoist Centre from seven different provinces recently indicates a growing trust in the party’s leadership.
Acknowledging the significant opportunities that have emerged for the Maoists in recent times, Dahal emphasized the importance of steering the government in the right direction by uniting opposition parties in a common front. Praising the work done by the Maoist-led government at the grassroots level, he encouraged party members to effectively promote these achievements.
By positioning the Maoists as agents of change, Dahal underscored the party’s commitment to good governance, social justice, economic prosperity, and anti-corruption measures. He highlighted that despite the public’s skepticism towards the government’s performance in these areas, the party’s dedication to building a strong organization through hard work will overcome any challenges in becoming the leading force.
Opinion from Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News: Ramesh Khatri believes that Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s remarks signify a strategic move to reposition the Maoist Centre as a credible political force. By emphasizing the party’s accomplishments and future goals, Dahal is not only rallying support within the party but also appealing to a broader audience. Khatri views this as a calculated effort to strengthen the party’s standing and credibility in the political landscape of Nepal.
