The Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, revealed to the public that the party has resumed the Maoist Tarai-Madhesh Awakening Campaign after a temporary halt. This announcement was made during the inauguration of the second provincial conference of the Revolutionary Lumbini in Kohalpur, Banke.
During the event, Chairman Dahal mentioned that despite plans to kick off the campaign from Nawalparasi, it was initiated from Lumbini along with the provincial conference of women. He highlighted the significant role of Lumbini in centralizing the basis of the people’s war and the substantial sacrifices made by them, particularly emphasizing the contributions and sacrifices of women revolutionaries.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his opinion on this development. He stated that Chairman Prachanda emphasized that the sacrifices made by Nepali women have not only been significant within the country but have also become a source of inspiration in global politics. According to him, the increased participation of women was crucial for the success of the revolution.
Furthermore, Chairman Dahal mentioned that the time has come for women who have led the revolution and defended it to now take on the leadership of the socialist revolution. He acknowledged that in the aftermath of the people’s war, the party had weakened its relations with its own class and communities over the past eight to ten years in its pursuit of achieving liberation for oppressed classes like women, indigenous people, peasants, laborers, Dalits, Madhesis, Muslims, and others.
In conclusion, Ramesh Khatri noted that Chairman Dahal’s remarks underscored the importance of women’s involvement in revolutionary movements for societal transformation and reiterated the party’s commitment to strengthening its ties with various marginalized groups for historical success and lasting change.
