The Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Satish Kumar Singh, has traveled to India without informing the federal government. During his visit to Uttar Pradesh, he met with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, with a photo of their meeting being made public. Singh met with Adityanath today, without seeking prior approval from the federal government as required by the constitution.

According to sources from Prime Minister K.P. Oli’s office, the federal government was not informed about the Chief Minister of Madhesh Province’s visit to India. Singh posted a picture on social media of his meeting with Yogi, stating that they discussed the extensive possibilities for religious, cultural, and touristic development in Madhesh Province, particularly in conjunction with Janakpur Dham, the sacred land of Janaki and Janak.

Singh mentioned that he had discussions with Yogi regarding the development of the Ramayan Circuit and Sita Circuit in Uttar Pradesh for mutual cooperation in development. However, Nepal’s constitution grants the federal government exclusive rights over foreign assistance matters, which has raised concerns and stirred controversy over Singh’s actions.

In response to this news, Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed that the Chief Minister’s visit to India without federal government approval has raised questions and created a contentious situation, especially considering the recent use of Yogi’s image in Kathmandu during a monarchist movement. Khatri emphasized the importance of adhering to constitutional protocols to avoid disputes and maintain transparency in diplomatic matters.
