Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand, Winston Peters, for diplomatic talks on Wednesday. The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, focusing on bilateral interests, mutual relations, and enhancing multilateral cooperation.
Discussions during the meeting revolved around enhancing cooperation in various sectors such as agriculture, tourism, education, trade, and investment, with both parties expressing optimism about the potential for collaboration. Prime Minister Oli emphasized the current government’s commitment to achieving a prosperous and happy Nepal, prioritizing stability, development, good governance, social justice, and social transformation.
Deputy Prime Minister Peters underscored the importance of fostering development and prosperity in Nepal, as well as enhancing bilateral cooperation on the international stage. The meeting also saw the participation of senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighting the significance of diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
Reflecting on the historical ties between Nepal and New Zealand, dating back to Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay’s successful ascent of Mt. Everest in 1953, the meeting further solidified the close relationship between the two nations.
