In Tanahu, Nepal, the Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, has been accused of not removing the Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, Kulman Ghising, from his position. The Minister met with a group of journalists in Dumre and stated that the government has not taken any steps to dismiss Ghising.
During the meeting, Minister Khadka emphasized the importance of evaluating the necessity of removing an employee from their position and highlighted that employees can be retained based on requirements. He also mentioned that the Nepal Electricity Authority should be rewarded for contributing positively and penalized for any misconduct.
In response to a question from journalists regarding the zero rating in the performance evaluation of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Minister Khadka expressed concerns about the lack of attendance during inspections and emphasized the importance of understanding the work to achieve a better evaluation score.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his opinion on the matter. “The accountability and performance of officials in key positions, such as Kulman Ghising, are crucial for the effective functioning of organizations like the Nepal Electricity Authority. It is essential for the government to address concerns regarding leadership decisions promptly to maintain transparency and efficiency in the energy sector.”
