Nepal beats Netherlands with Arif’s half-century in cricket match

Kathmandu: In a thrilling match at Dandi Fort Hill, Nepal emerged victorious against the Netherlands in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2. This win marked Nepal’s second consecutive victory in the ongoing series.

Chasing a target of 226 runs, Nepal managed to defeat the Netherlands by 5 wickets in 47.1 overs. Aarif played a crucial role for Nepal by scoring a half-century in the match.

Aarif scored 78 runs off 99 balls, hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes. Prior to that, he also scored a half-century by hitting 5 fours and 1 six off 81 balls. Dipendra Singh Airee remained unbeaten on 38 runs, while Gulshan Jha scored 11 runs.

Kushal Bhurtel contributed 25 runs, captain Rohit Kumar Paudel scored 23, Asif Sheikh scored 19, and Bhim Sarki added 11 runs to the total. Michael Lees took 2 wickets for the Netherlands.

On the other hand, after winning the toss, the Netherlands lost all their wickets and managed to score only 225 runs in 49.1 overs. Noah Croft scored the most runs for the Netherlands with 48, followed by captain Scott Edwards with 46 runs. Nepali bowlers caused trouble for the Dutch batsmen right from the start of the innings.

Sompal Kami took the final wicket to complete his three-wicket haul. Similarly, Sandeep Lamichhane, Lalit Rajbanshi, and Karan KC each took two wickets.

Looking ahead, Nepal will face Scotland on Sunday.
