First Nepal Festival Kansai 2025 to Celebrate Nepalese Heritage in Osaka

Osaka, Japan – The Kansai region of Japan is set to witness a grand celebration of Nepalese culture, traditions, and heritage with the inaugural Nepal Festival Kansai 2025. Scheduled for April 26 and 27, 2025, the event will be hosted at Kyobashi Fulali Park in Osaka. The festival is being organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Kansai in collaboration with several other Nepalese social organizations in Japan.

The festival aims to create a platform where people from different backgrounds can come together to experience Nepalese art, music, dance, and cuisine. It will also serve as a significant event to promote Nepalese tourism and strengthen Nepal-Japan relations.

Preparation in Full Swing

In preparation for the festival, NRNA Kansai recently conducted an interactive discussion session with representatives from various Nepalese organizations in the region. During the session, Krishna Gaire, Vice President of NRNA Japan and the chief coordinator of the festival, shared updates on the progress of the event and discussed upcoming plans. Narendra Kumar Basnet Dinesh, the head of the management committee, provided insights into the logistical aspects and overall administration of the festival.

To ensure smooth execution, the organizing team has formed several dedicated subcommittees, each handling different aspects of the festival. The key subcommittees and their coordinators are as follows:

A Cultural Extravaganza Awaiting Kansai

The festival is expected to be a grand affair, featuring traditional Nepalese dance performances, live music, food stalls serving authentic Nepali delicacies, and exhibitions showcasing Nepal’s rich cultural heritage and tourism opportunities. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience Nepal’s artistic traditions up close while engaging in meaningful cultural exchange.

During the recent discussion, many prominent figures from the Nepalese community in Kansai shared their thoughts and suggestions to make the event a memorable one. Speakers included former NRNA Kansai coordinators, social activists, and media personnel such as Hariraj Dhakal, Ramesh Babu Ghimire, Sunil KC, Lakpa Dong, Tej Gurung, Krishna Bhusal, Bal Bahadur Kshetri, and journalist Purushottam Lamichhane. Their insights and experiences are expected to contribute significantly to the success of the festival.

Strengthening Nepal-Japan Ties

The decision to hold Nepal Festival Kansai 2025 was finalized during a joint meeting of the NRNA Kansai advisory committee and executive committee on December 11 and 16, 2024. With meticulous planning, enthusiastic participation, and a shared vision of promoting Nepalese culture internationally, the first Nepal Festival Kansai 2025 promises to be an unforgettable event celebrating Nepal’s rich heritage in the heart of Japan.
