Nepali cricket supporters have shown immense enthusiasm on a global scale. The passion for Nepal’s sports is not only evident in stadiums but also on social media platforms, where fans remain highly active.

This enthusiastic participation of the audience has led Nepal to win the ICC Digital Fan Engagement of the Year award for the second consecutive time. The active engagement of Nepali supporters on social media, contributing to the development of cricket, has earned Nepal recognition through the ICC Development Award.

According to Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, this award signifies Nepal’s strong connection with cricket and the international cricket community’s acknowledgment of the country’s progress. The list of awardees includes Namibia from Africa, Bermuda from America, and Indonesia from the EAP region, along with Nepal. Last year, Nepal had outperformed 21 associate nations to secure this prestigious award.

Nepal, with a significant cricket fan base, was previously selected from the Asian region for this award. The ICC had highlighted a 400% increase in the number of Nepali fans on digital platforms like Facebook in the past year, emphasizing the country’s growing influence in the cricketing world.
