Kathmandu: The announcement of the Nepali national women’s team for friendly football matches with Thailand has been made in preparation for the AFC Women’s Asia Cup 2026 qualifiers to be held in Australia. Head coach Rajendra Tamang has named a 23-member squad led by captain Anjila Tumbapo Subba for the upcoming matches.
Nepal is scheduled to play two friendly matches against Thailand as part of their preparations for the AFC Women’s Asia Cup 2026 qualifiers. The matches are set to take place on May 30 and June 2, with Nepal looking to fine-tune their strategies and teamwork ahead of the crucial qualifiers.
The Nepali team lineup includes Anjila Tumbapo Subba as the goalkeeper and captain, along with players like Amrita Jaisi, Geeta Rana, Vimala Vik, Pooja Rana, Nisha Thokar, Samiksha Ghimire, and Manmaya Damai in defense. The midfield comprises players such as Preeti Rai, Suru Limbu, Savita Ranamagar, Anita Basnet, Vimla Chaudhary, Renuka Nagarkote, Saraswati Hamal, and Susma Tamang. The forward position will be held by Savitra Bhandari, Rashmikumari Ghising, Chandra Bhandari, Anita Keshi, and Rekha Paudel.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, stated that this announcement marks an important step in Nepal’s women’s football development. He emphasized the significance of these friendly matches in providing valuable exposure and experience to the team as they gear up for the upcoming qualifiers.
