The National Assembly has unanimously passed a proposal to amend certain Nepalese laws, including the 2080 Act, with a message received from the House of Representatives. This proposal was presented by Minister of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Ajay Kumar Chaurasia, during Tuesday’s session of the Assembly. Upon its presentation by the Assembly President Narayan Prasad Dahal, it received unanimous approval.

During the meeting on Tuesday, Tulsakumari Dahal, the chairperson of the Legislation Management Committee, presented a report on the bill related to the ‘Legislative Bill Received with a Message from the House of Representatives, 2080’. This bill had previously seen 21 Members of Parliament register 123 amendments in a hundred and twenty-three points.

The thorough examination of the bill took place on the 11th of Asar. The bill aims to organize the legislative process in a structured, transparent, and accountable manner, aiming to facilitate international trade and increase the effectiveness of revenue collection through taxation.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, views this development as a positive step towards modernizing and streamlining the legal framework in Nepal, which could potentially boost the country’s economic activities and international trade relations.
