KATHMANDU: Nepalese Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli met with the Thai Ambassador to Nepal, Suwapong Sirisorn, on Wednesday. This meeting marked the first official visit of the Nepalese Prime Minister to Thailand, following an invitation extended by Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
The meeting took place ahead of the upcoming Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit scheduled for March 22. Additionally, Prime Minister Oli is set to lead a delegation to Bangkok on March 19 for an official visit.
During the meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, key advisors to the Prime Minister, including Vishnu Prasad Rimal, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present.
Ramesh Khatri of Kansai Nepal News stated, “The diplomatic relations between Nepal and Thailand are crucial for fostering cooperation and strengthening ties in various sectors. Prime Minister Oli’s visit signifies a positive step towards enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries.”
