In a recent update, the Japanese government has appointed Toru Maeda as the new ambassador for Nepal. Maeda, who has been actively serving in various diplomatic roles for over 35 years, has a rich background in international relations. Starting his career in Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1985, Maeda has held key diplomatic positions in countries like Myanmar, France, and others.
His expertise in international cooperation and strategic analysis has been recognized through his leadership roles at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and various diplomatic missions. Maeda’s academic qualifications include a law degree from Tokyo University and a master’s degree from Georgetown University, with additional foreign service training.
As Nepal’s current ambassador, Kikuta Yutaka prepares to conclude his term and return to Japan, Maeda is gearing up to step into his new role. Durga Bahadur Subedi, the Nepalese ambassador to Japan, has extended warm wishes to Maeda, expressing confidence in further strengthening the ties between Nepal and Japan during his tenure.
