Kathmandu: The IME Group has established an industry to produce new paper from recycled paper in Nepal. With the operation of Nepal Pulp and Paper Industries Pvt. Ltd. in Nepal, it is expected to reduce paper imports and create employment opportunities.
The IME Group plans to recycle used paper and produce new paper, aiming to decrease the annual import of around 150,000 metric tons of paper in Nepal. The industry is expected to provide direct employment to approximately 300 individuals. This initiative is intended to boost the local economy and provide job opportunities for the youth.
The IME Group has emphasized that this industry is environmentally friendly and focuses on sustainable development. They believe that the reuse of recycled paper will help prevent deforestation and contribute to environmental conservation.
The Nepalese government is also keen on supporting such industries to encourage them. The IME Group’s initiative is expected to play a crucial role in making Nepal’s paper industry self-reliant.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, views this development positively, acknowledging the potential of the new paper industry to boost the economy, create jobs, and promote environmental sustainability.
