Kathmandu – Lalitpur City FC has reached the playoffs of the Nepal Super League (NSL) football competition in 2025. In a match held at Dashrath Stadium on Saturday, Lalitpur defeated Butwal Lumbini FC 2-0, advancing to the playoffs of the Lalitpur competition.
During Saturday’s game, Lalitpur’s captain Anant Tamang scored the first goal in the 23rd minute, while Santosh Khatri scored the second goal in the 88th minute. With today’s win, Lalitpur secured the top spot in the table with 11 points from five games. In the ongoing competition, Lalitpur has won three games and drawn two, establishing themselves as strong contenders. Lalitpur is a former champion team.
Following their fourth consecutive loss, Butwal Lumbini FC has been eliminated from the playoffs. Butwal has played five games in the ongoing competition, drawing the first game and losing the remaining four. Butwal remains at the bottom of the table.
Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his view on the match, stating, “Lalitpur’s performance has been commendable, securing their position at the top of the table. It is unfortunate to see Butwal Lumbini FC struggle in this competition, but they have shown resilience despite the tough losses.”
