A high-level committee is set to be formed to investigate the Bhijit Viswa case, as the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) has agreed to support the government after reaching a consensus on two points. This development has led to an obstruction in the parliamentary session starting from May 13.

Despite the Maoist Center agreeing to end the blockade for the sake of ending the political deadlock, the National Freedom Party has raised several questions as they were not included in the agreement made by the ruling Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) with the Maoist Center to open the parliament session.

The agreement to open the parliament session made between the ruling parties and the Maoist Center has been opposed by another opposition party, the National Freedom Party. The formation of a high-level probe committee to investigate the Bhijit Viswa issue was not mentioned in the agreement.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his opinion on the matter, stating that the issue of Bhijit Viswa and the related abuse of power investigation should be thoroughly conducted by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority. He emphasized the need for the Nepali government to provide necessary support for the investigation.

The agreement to open the parliament session by sidelining the National Freedom Party and the consensus reached with the Maoist Center has been labeled as trilateral hegemony in political circles. The obstruction of the parliament session amidst the Maoist agreement has been met with criticism for not being conducive to opposition voices.

In the wake of today’s political events, even the opposition is split into two factions. The main opposition party, the CPN (Maoist Center), seems to be inclining towards the ruling faction while the CPN (UML) is becoming the main opposition party.

Until yesterday, there was a joint demand for the formation of a probe committee or a high-level judicial commission, but with the Maoist Center further distancing itself on Friday, the opposition parties have become divided into two factions.
