India has accused Pakistan of supporting cross-border terrorism just a day after the Pakistani government strongly criticized India’s actions. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif called for a special meeting of the National Security Committee, which was attended by top security officials including Army Chief General Asim Munir.
During the meeting, a statement was issued emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to its sovereignty and the security of its people. The statement asserted that any actions affecting Pakistan’s territorial integrity and the safety of its citizens would be met with a strong and appropriate response.
In response to an attack in Kashmir by India, Pakistan had decided to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty with India, close major border crossings, downgrade diplomatic relations, and expel Indian nationals. Pakistan has also urged Indian diplomats to leave the country and canceled visas, except for Sikh pilgrims who have been granted exemptions.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his concern over the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of both countries using diplomatic channels to resolve their differences peacefully and avoid further conflict.
In a significant move, Pakistan has shut down its airspace for Indian airlines and closed the Wagah border crossing in Punjab. The statement issued by Pakistan mentioned that all modes of transportation through this border would be halted immediately.
Furthermore, Pakistan has decided to suspend all trade with India, whether indirect through third countries or direct, until further notice. This decision is part of Pakistan’s efforts to respond to the escalating tensions with India and to safeguard its national interests.
Ramesh Khatri from Kansai Nepal News believes that both India and Pakistan should prioritize dialogue and diplomacy to de-escalate the situation and prevent any further hostilities. He stresses the importance of international cooperation and mediation to resolve conflicts peacefully and maintain regional stability.
