“Petrol Prices Rise, Diesel Prices Fall: Recent Fuel Price Fluctuations”

The Nepal Oil Corporation has announced an increase in the price of petrol while reducing the prices of diesel and kerosene. The decision was made during a meeting of the corporation’s board of directors held on Saturday. Accordingly, the selling price of petrol per liter has been increased by Rs 1, while the prices of diesel and kerosene have been reduced by Rs 4 per liter.

In line with the price adjustment, the selling price of petrol for the first tier has been fixed at Rs 165.50, the second tier at Rs 167, and the third tier at Rs 165 per liter. Similarly, the selling price of diesel and kerosene for the first tier has been set at Rs 153.50, the second tier at Rs 155, and the third tier at Rs 156 per liter.

The corporation has categorized depots in Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhganj, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, and Birgunj as first tier, Surkhet and Dang as second tier, and Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal as third tier.

In response to the new purchase prices received from the Indian Oil Corporation on Saturday, where the price per liter of petrol increased by Rs 0.58 and diesel decreased by Rs 3.59, the corporation has clarified that the price adjustment was necessary to align with the market rates.

Opinion from Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News: “The recent adjustment in fuel prices by the Nepal Oil Corporation reflects an attempt to balance the impact of international market fluctuations on domestic consumers. While the increase in petrol prices may burden some, the reduction in diesel and kerosene prices could offer relief to various sectors dependent on these fuels for their operations.”
