A familiar childhood landscape of parks and woodlands has now been transformed by the installation of solar panels. Photographer Shoki Tobumi, faced with the stark reality of his hometown’s altered scenery, grappled with a mix of emotions – the loss of the original natural beauty and the necessity of embracing renewable energy sources.

The transition of his beloved childhood spaces into a solar energy hub prompted Tobumi to reflect on the implications of this shift. The once lively and green areas are now covered in rows of solar panels, a visual representation of the growing global emphasis on sustainable energy solutions. While acknowledging the benefits of renewable energy in combating climate change and reducing carbon emissions, Tobumi also couldn’t ignore the sentimental attachment to the untouched landscapes of his past.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, shared his perspective on this development. “The integration of solar panels in familiar landscapes is a testament to the urgent need for environmentally friendly energy solutions. While it may alter the aesthetics of the surroundings, the long-term benefits for the environment cannot be overlooked,” stated Khatri, highlighting the importance of balancing progress with preservation in the face of climate change.
