Two suspects involved in an attempted murder case were shot by police in Kailali, Nepal. The incident took place when the suspects, Ridam Dhungana and Milan Chand, were being taken under control in Bhajani Municipality-7 after attempting to evade arrest. According to Rajkumar Singh, the spokesperson for the District Police Office, the suspects were being transported to the custody room in Tikapur when they tried to escape, prompting the police to open fire to regain control of the situation.

Both suspects, who sustained injuries from the gunshots, were rushed to the Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi for treatment. They are reported to be in critical condition. The incident occurred on June 15 when Tekendra Singh Bisht from Tikapur allegedly attacked a person with a khukuri, leading to the arrest of Dhungana and Chand on charges related to attempted murder.

Opinion from Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News: “The use of firearms by the police in this situation raises concerns about the handling of suspects and the escalation of violence. It is crucial for law enforcement to prioritize the safety and well-being of both the public and individuals under arrest.”
