Police Defeat Army to Win Prime Minister Cup Cricket Title

The Prime Minister Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament was won by Nepal Police Club in the final match against Tribhuvan Army Club held on Saturday. The Police team achieved victory by defeating the Army team by four wickets.

For their win, Nepal Police Club successfully chased a target of 155 runs in 25.2 overs, with opener Kushal Bhurtel scoring 61 runs. Additionally, Amit Shrestha contributed 39 runs and Dilip Nath scored an unbeaten 31 runs.

On the other hand, Tribhuvan Army Club managed to score 154 runs in 43 overs, losing all their wickets. Sahab Alam and Naren Saud took one wicket each for the Army team.

Captain Vinod Bhandari and Basir Ahmad partnered to add 75 runs beyond the 25 runs lost by the Army team. Basir Ahmad scored 86 runs off 104 balls with the help of nine boundaries and one six, while Captain Vinod Bhandari contributed 29 runs. Despite Vivek Yadav’s 11 runs, no other batsman could contribute significantly.

In the match, Nepal Police’s Karan K.C. took three wickets after conceding 30 runs in 7 overs, including one maiden over. Sagar Dhakal also took three wickets by spending 29 runs in 8 overs, while Captain Dipendra Singh Airee took two wickets, and Lalit Rajbanshi and Gulshan Jha took one wicket each.

The Prime Minister Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament featured a total of 46 matches played under the banner of Siddhartha Cricket Ground in Rupandehi, Tilottama Cricket Stadium in Butwal, and Deukhuri International Cricket Ground in Dang. The competition included teams from 7 provinces, as well as the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force.
