Former Prime Minister and Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda had previously referred to influential youth who win elections at the local level as the beautiful flowers of democracy. In a particular instance, he highlighted Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Bal Krishna Sah (Balen) for this description. Additionally, it was mentioned that Balen Sah, along with leaders from the Tarai Madhes Awakening Campaign, had visited Prachanda’s ancestral home in Mahottari.
The welcoming program held at Balen Sah’s ancestral home in Mahottari, which had been rented out by the Mahottari municipality, was attended by Prachanda, who expressed enjoyment at being a part of the program. Prachanda shared that he felt a sense of delight while participating in the event at Balen’s home, mentioning, “Balen Sah’s ancestral home, where his father and uncles lived, we have arrived here. This also feels like a pleasant experience. Balen must also be listening. Together, we will build this country.”
During the event, Prachanda commented on the role of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre) in achieving inclusive and proportional achievements, stating that efforts are being made to reverse the achievements by a few individuals.
In response to this news, Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, noted that Prachanda’s gesture towards local leaders like Balen Sah reflects a positive engagement with grassroots politics, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and appreciating the contributions of emerging youth leaders in shaping the country’s democratic landscape.
