KATHMANDU: The Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the prominent leader of the Nepalese leftist movement, Pradeep Nepal. Pradeep Nepal was known for his strong leadership in the leftist movement and his intellectual contributions.

Chairman Dahal issued a statement through social media expressing his condolences and highlighting the loss of Pradeep Nepal as a significant blow to the Nepalese leftist movement. He emphasized Pradeep Nepal’s invaluable contributions to democracy, social justice, and the journey of transformation, stating that his legacy will be remembered forever. “I offer my heartfelt condolences to the grieving family and close ones, expressing deep sympathy towards their profound loss,” Dahal mentioned in his statement. “With the demise of Nepal, the Nepalese leftist movement has lost an honest, dedicated, and principled leader.”

Pradeep Nepal, who had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease for a long time, passed away on Tuesday afternoon at the age of 71 in a hospital where he was undergoing treatment.
