Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has commended the role played by the Muslim community in fostering social harmony in the country. This acknowledgment came during an event organized by the party’s fraternal organization, the Nepal Muslim Association Central Committee, at the party’s central office, where Deuba highlighted the importance of fostering social harmony within the party to strengthen it.
Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his opinion on this news, stating that Deuba’s recognition of the Muslim community’s contributions to inclusive governance and the need for a participatory and proportional system to unite all ethnic groups and communities shows the party’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity.
Moreover, party Vice-Minister Bishma Raj Adhikari affirmed the Nepali Congress’ acceptance of religious freedom and tolerance within a democratic system, emphasizing the party’s respect for everyone’s faith, thoughts, and values. This stance was seen as a sincere display of appreciation for all.
Central member Gyanendra Bahadur Karki praised the Muslim community’s contribution to democracy and the country’s development, highlighting the importance of acknowledging their efforts.
Another central member, Abdul Sattar, conveyed New Year greetings for 2082, emphasizing that national development can be achieved through unity among all races and communities.
During the occasion, Nepali Congress Lalitpur President Jitendrakumar Shrestha, Nepal Muslim Association Central President Atabul Mansur, and Muslim Commission Executive Vice President Mahmadin Ali reaffirmed the significance of religious unity, harmony, and tolerance as integral aspects of the Nepali identity.
