The recent event where Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli was scheduled to participate in the inauguration program jointly organized by Lumbini Development Fund and Sariputra Foundation has been boycotted by Physical Infrastructure Development Minister of Lumbini Province, Bhoomiswar Dhakal, and former minister and provincial parliament member Chandrakesh Gupta.
The fourth edition of the international seminar on ‘Nepal-China Buddhist Cultural and Art’ was inaugurated in Lumbini. However, the organizers felt disrespected due to certain incidents and decided to boycott the program. Minister Dhakal and Member of Parliament Gupta confirmed the decision to boycott the event citing disrespectful behavior during the Prime Minister’s participation ceremony.
The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, in collaboration with Lumbini Development Fund, had organized this event from Baisakh 13 to 14 to enhance cultural relations between Nepal and China. The event saw cooperation from the World Alliance for Buddhist Cultural Exchange Limited from China and the Vicho Piss Calligraphy and Painting Academy.
In response to this news, Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed concern over the impact of such boycotts on international relations and cultural exchange efforts. He emphasized the need for respectful and inclusive participation in such events to promote harmony and mutual understanding between nations.
