The Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist), Madhav Kumar Nepal, has emphasized the need to eliminate all forms of division existing in society for the holistic development of the country. Speaking at the inauguration of the 7th National Conference of the All Nepal Women’s Association (Socialist) on Saturday, he acknowledged the significant participation of women in political changes over time. However, he expressed concern that despite their notable involvement, women have not experienced the desired economic and social transformation. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding women’s rights provided by the constitution for their welfare and protection.

Respected leader Jhalanath Khanal of the party highlighted the importance of women’s economic empowerment in combating poverty in the country. While acknowledging the increase in women’s participation in politics, he stressed the need for all parties to enhance women’s representation at all levels of leadership to ensure fairness and integrity.

Furthermore, the President of the Association and Deputy Central Chairman of the party, Jayanti Rai, emphasized the need for raising awareness and providing appropriate education for women’s social and economic empowerment. She mentioned that during the conference, which will continue until tomorrow, internal disputes will be resolved based on suggestions from committees at the provincial and district levels. Additionally, political, organizational, economic, and other contemporary proposals will be discussed and approved.

Approximately 600 representatives from across the country are participating in the conference.

Opinion from Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News: “The statements made by Madhav Kumar Nepal and other party leaders regarding the importance of women’s empowerment and the need for inclusive political participation are commendable. It is crucial for political parties to prioritize gender equality and actively work towards empowering women at all levels of society to foster true development and progress in Nepal.”
