Kathmandu – The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Kathmandu University, Bholan Thapa, has been accused of financial irregularities by the Public Accounts Committee. The university’s representative, Gautam Kumar Jhale, presented allegations of irregularities in the purchase of goods and services, prompting the committee to take action.

Thapa, along with other family members including his brother Sudip Thapa, sister-in-law Bhawana Keshi, and several individuals associated with companies such as Ed Pad, ANS Incorporation, Stuti Mart, among others, have been implicated in not adhering to financial regulations in purchases ranging from advertising, public relations, event management, equipment procurement, to catering.

Representative Ramesh Khatri from Kansai Nepal News expressed concern over the allegations, stressing the importance of upholding financial transparency and accountability in educational institutions. Khatri emphasized the need for thorough investigations and appropriate measures to address any wrongdoing and ensure the integrity of the academic system.
