Kathmandu: Teachers are taking to the streets for their rightful demands, amidst a backdrop of intensified political agendas being showcased through street demonstrations. While monarchist parties are demanding the reinstatement of the monarchy, democratic parties are using the streets to amplify calls for law and order. The teachers are preparing to march on the streets, seeking the end of autocracy and the establishment of civil supremacy. This surge of activity in the capital’s streets indicates the current wave of protests.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, shared his perspective on the ongoing events. He emphasized the importance of a strong road-centered movement to push for the culmination of the demands for the end of autocracy and the establishment of civil supremacy. Khatri highlighted the need for unity among citizens to ensure the success of the movement.

The teachers initiated their protests in September following the registration of the Education Act in Parliament. After the government assured them of fulfilling their demands post a three-day demonstration, they temporarily halted their protests. However, with their demands still pending even after 18 months, they have resumed their demonstrations on the streets.

Despite the government’s invitations for dialogue, the teachers have rejected them, citing the inadequacy of discussions and expressing their intent to continue with their protests until their demands are met. The healthcare professionals have also joined in, demanding an end to labor exploitation.

Various political parties and civil society groups have announced street-centered movements to push for constitutional amendments and the establishment of good governance. The streets of Kathmandu have become a central space for these demonstrations, showcasing the growing momentum of various movements.

In conclusion, as the call for a stronger road-centered movement gains traction, citizens are gearing up for sustained protests, highlighting the importance of a united front to achieve their goals.
