“Public Self-Government Election Schedule”

Tribhuvan University (TU) has made the schedule for the upcoming independent student union election, which is set to take place on the 5th of Chaitra. The Central Monitoring and Coordination Committee of TU has publicly released the election schedule for the Student Union. According to the directive issued by the Director of Student Welfare and Sports Department, Pushpati Adhikari, candidate nominations have been scheduled to start on the 27th of Falgun. The registration of direct and proportional candidates for approval is set to take place from 11 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon on the 27th of Falgun.

Additionally, the registration of associations and organizations is set for the 19th of Falgun, publication of voter lists on the 21st of Falgun, deadline for candidate objections on the 28th of Falgun, and final candidate names to be published on the 29th of Falgun. TU has designated the voting day for the 5th of Chaitra from 8 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon.

Furthermore, the Campus Election Committee of TU has mentioned in the election schedule that changes can be made as necessary, such as monitoring, issuing codes of conduct, and extending the time for voting on the day of the election. TU has also specified that the publicity campaign for the Student Union election will run from the 29th of Falgun, starting at 2 p.m., until the 2nd of Chaitra at midnight, followed by a silent period, as informed by the Director of the Student Welfare and Sports Department.

It is worth noting that TU had previously issued the ‘Guidelines for Student Union Elections’. The Student Union election is set to take place on the 5th of Chaitra in TU’s 62 constituent campuses and around 1400 affiliated campuses nationwide. The election will be conducted under a mixed electoral system with an age limit of 28 years.
