The game, played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, saw Punjab Kings bat first after winning the toss. They posted a total of 221 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Nehal Bhadoriya played a crucial role for Punjab by scoring a blazing half-century with 70 runs off just 37 balls, while Shashank Singh contributed with a quickfire 59 runs off 30 balls.
Captain Shreyas Iyer added 30 runs to the total, supported by Avesh Khan with 21 runs and Prabhsimran Singh with 21 runs as well. For Rajasthan Royals, Tushar Deshpande took two wickets, while Chetan Sakariya, Riyan Parag, and Akash Singh each managed to take one wicket apiece. Rajasthan Royals, chasing a target of 221 runs set by Punjab Kings, could only muster 209 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs.
Despite a valiant effort from Dhruv Jurel, who scored a quickfire half-century of 53 runs off 31 balls with the help of four sixes and three fours, Rajasthan Royals fell short of the target. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 50 runs, Vaibhav Arora contributed 40, and captain Sanju Samson added 20 runs to the team’s total. Harpreet Brar took three wickets for Punjab, while Mark Wood and Avesh Khan each took two wickets.
With this victory, Punjab Kings have moved up to the second spot in the points table with 17 points from 12 games, while Rajasthan Royals, with 6 points from 13 matches, currently occupy the ninth position.
