Radhika Shakya’s autobiography ‘KaruNa’ was officially launched in a ceremony held on Saturday, with Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli as the chief guest. The event saw the book being unveiled by PM Oli, author Shakya, Pradeep Gyawali, Deputy Secretary-General of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist), writer Amar Neupane, and Buddhist nun and singer Ani Choying Dolma.

The book launch took place at the Rastriya Sabha Griha on Pradarshani Marg to mark the 37th anniversary of PM Oli and Shakya’s marriage. Published by Panini Books, the event had the participation of ministers and high-ranking personalities.

In her autobiography, Shakya delves into her personal views, experiences, and intertwines them with PM Oli’s struggles, hardships, successes, and contributions to society. The book covers Shakya’s childhood, education, career, and various phases of her life, including her marriage to former Maoist leader Oli and their many journeys together.

Expressing her sentiments, Shakya stated, “I am neither a writer nor an author. However, the thoughts that have lingered in my mind for so long compelled me to pen them down in the form of this book.” She further added, “Since my childhood, I have felt concerned when encountering the poor, distressed, sick, and helpless. It was out of this compassion that I tied the knot with PM Oli during his early days.”

The marriage between PM Oli and Shakya took place in 2044 BS. On that occasion, Panini Books also presented a congratulatory letter.
