Renowned actor Rajesh Hamal’s contribution to society and the nation through programs by Lions Club-like social organizations has not only brought balance to society but also inspired others to follow suit. According to Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News, Hamal highlighted the need for impactful programs targeting specific groups and communities during the inauguration ceremony of the Lions Club International District 325’s third national convention.

Hamal emphasized the Lions Club’s role in promoting understanding among individuals, encouraging responsible citizens and good governance principles, fostering friendships with capable individuals involved in social services, promoting camaraderie and unity in the global community, and inspiring community service. Former Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha also stressed the importance of collective support for social development and philanthropic activities.

The Lions Club’s invaluable role in fostering positive thinking in individuals and guiding society towards the right path was acknowledged by Hamal. He also mentioned Lions’ contributions in eye care, blood donation, and diabetes control not just in Nepal but in various countries.

Sanjay Khaitan, Lions International Director, shared that the organization receives support exceeding $3 million annually from donor agencies for initiatives such as eye care, blood donation, and other social programs in Nepal. It was also highlighted that the Lions Club is committed to introducing innovative programs to uplift the living standards of underprivileged and marginalized communities.

Moreover, Lions Club District 325’s Governor Milan Thapa highlighted the organization’s mission to fulfill its responsibility towards society and the environment. Their focus on empowering women through various training, workshops, discussions, and awards has been instrumental in creating a positive impact.

Additionally, the Lions Club has provided $25,000 in relief aid in Gorkha, Baglung, Nuwakot, and Bagmati regions after various disasters. The club’s new leadership takes charge every July 1, ensuring continuity in the club’s philanthropic efforts.

Looking ahead, Governor-Elect Milan Babu Mall will oversee the club’s activities in the Kathmandu Valley, Gandaki, and Dhaulagiri regions, covering 14 districts. The organization currently boasts approximately 3,300 members. Ramesh Khatri believes that the Lions Club’s ongoing work and plans for the future will continue to make a significant impact on society and individuals.
