Ravi Lamichhane Appeals in High Court Seeking Normal Date Stamp

The Chairman of the National Independent Party, Ravi Lamichhane, has been ordered by the Kaski District Court to be released on bail, pending an appeal to the High Court. This decision comes after Judge Neetij Rai of the Kaski District Court issued an order to release Ravi and seven others on bail. The court had previously demanded a bail amount of 6.5 million rupees from Ravi.

Following this, Ravi Lamichhane submitted a request on Monday to postpone the execution of the order to release him on bail to a later date. The Deputy Registrar and Information Officer of the High Court, Nilprasad Paneru, confirmed that the request had been filed on Monday and mentioned that the order would be addressed by a single bench on Tuesday.

Prior to this, the office of the Chief Government Lawyer had requested to stay the order to release them on bail and hold them in custody instead. However, Ravi Lamichhane has now filed a request to grant bail instead of staying in custody.

In a separate case involving the Sun Network, where 63 individuals are facing charges totaling over 1.51 billion rupees, the matter is still under consideration. The High Court had issued an order on Magh 8 to release seven individuals on bail, pending further investigation. Subsequently, on Poush 25, a petition was sent to the High Government Lawyer’s office regarding the bail order, and on the 29th, the District Government Lawyer’s office forwarded a request to the High Government Lawyer’s office for review.

Upon receiving the report on the status of the case from the district, the High Court will decide whether to uphold or revoke the bail order based on the petitioner’s request. Information Officer Paneru informed that once the district submits the report on the case, the Joint Bench of the High Court will decide whether to proceed with the request or not in the Sun Network case involving a claim of 1.51 billion rupees.
