In recent news, Ravi Lamichhane, the chairman of the National Independent Party (Raswapa), has been involved in a legal dispute in Rupandehi district court over a property worth 1 crore. Lamichhane managed to secure his release by presenting a bank guarantee in court.
The court order for Lamichhane’s release was issued by Judge Pralhad Kumar Yogi after a series of statements, arguments, and counter-arguments. The allegations against Lamichhane involve misappropriation of funds in a cooperative in Butwal, leading to the demand for a 1 crore property bond by the Rupandehi district court.
This is not the first time Lamichhane has faced legal action related to cooperative fraud. The Rupandehi district court has previously demanded several substantial property bonds from him in various cases related to cooperative malpractice. Judge Pralhad Kumar Yogi’s order on Sunday specified the conditions for Lamichhane’s release, emphasizing the need for concrete evidence before any accusations can be considered valid.
In a similar vein, previous cases in Pokhara and Kathmandu saw the respective district courts ordering the release of defendants on property bonds amounting to 65 lakhs and 60 lakhs, respectively. These cases underscore the ongoing legal battles surrounding cooperative mismanagement and the stringent measures being implemented by the judiciary to address such financial irregularities.
